LE ROY – Thomas J. Ricci Sr., 83, of Le Roy, formerly of Stafford, died Saturday (Aug. 15, 2009) at his home in Le Roy.
 
He was born Nov. 19, 1925, in Pittsfield, Mass., the son of the late Joseph T. and Blanche Fossie Ricci.
 
Mr. Ricci was a teacher, administrator and athletic director for the Batavia City School System prior to his retirement. He was a World War II Navy veteran, a member of the American Legion, the Batavia Lions Club of which he was a past president, the Knights of Columbus, NYSUT Coaches Association, NYSAHPETR, and NYSPHSAA Section 5.
 
He was preceded in death by his wife Suzanne Johnston Ricci in 2002.
 
Tom is survived by his children, Thomas J. (Jean) Ricci Jr. of East Aurora, Michael (Karen) Ricci of Orlando, Fla., Joel (Seth) Ricci of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., John (Theresa) Ricci of Ossining, Deborah (Gregory) Packard of Brockport and Cynthia (Charles) McCloskey of Spencerport; his sisters, Marion Kilmer of California, Carol Pomeroy of Florida and Patricia (Paul) Steele of Delaware; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
 
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company Inc., 329-333 West Main St., Batavia. Prayers will be recited at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church at 9:30. Burial will be in Morganville Cemetery in Stafford with full military honors.
